Classic pairs up “ladies” to boost WA gold resource

Classic Minerals has pumped up the combined indicated resources for its Lady Ada and Lady Magdalene deposits to establish a new mark of 69,966 ounces of gold at the company's Forrestania project near Southern Cross in Western Australia. Management says its inferred resource for the two projects now shows more than 227,613 gold ounces, bringing the combined indicated and inferred resource to 297,579 ounces.

WA mine lease grant adds scope to Classic gold mining plans

A granted 21-year mining lease over two gold deposits set to join Classic Minerals' stable of operations will give the company what it says is a bigger play at its Forrestania project area near Southern Cross in Western Australia. The new 1804-hectare lease complements the company's existing Kat Gap mining operation and clears the pathway to an expanded operation.

Classic Minerals to trial gold mine en route to production

Classic Minerals will begin trial mining at its Kat Gap project in Western Australia's goldfields as it looks to calculate an ore reserve prior to moving into full-scale gold mining and production. The company says the pit will take about two months to complete, cost about $1.5 million and will target fully-oxidized high-grade ore, representing about half the indicated resource, to about 45m.

Classic stockpiles ore for fine-tuning WA gold mine

The precious metal is currently sitting in its stockpile of 6504 tonnes of ore grading 4.82 g/t gold and will be used to dial in the company's mobile gecko gold plant once it is assembled.

Shallow golden ore body sees daylight for Classic

The shallow, gold orebody at Classic Minerals' flagship Kat Gap project has been revealed for the first time. The gold explorer says the ground-breaking exposure is only 7m below the surface and comes from a shallow hole in the floor of the bulk sample mining pit. The company plans to remove the remaining overburden after a three-kilogram sample was crushed and panned yielding fine visible gold.

The test work results show an average gold recovery at Kat Gap of up to 75 per cent in the oxide material using a low-cost gravity separation process. Conventional cyanide leaching of the gravity gold concentrate showed between 95 per cent and 96 per cent recovery from oxide and fresh ore.

Classic Minerals has announced a new gold discovery at the Van Uden West prospect at its Forrestania gold project, south of Southern Cross. The best result of 12m @ 5.75g/t gold from 59m down-hole is open along strike and down-dip. High grade results were also reported from both the Kat Gap and Lady Lila prospects in exploration that confirmed the orientation of the gold mineralisation.
