King & Wood Mallesons, which ranks as the fourth largest law firm in WA, has expanded its local office with two lateral hires, Carl Black and Sam Dundas.

Mr Black joins from Squire Patton Boggs where he has been a partner for 12 years and operates in the real estate practice.

Mr Dundas specialises in dispute resolution and insolvency and joins from HWL Ebsworth Lawyers, where he had been a partner for nearly three years.

The two additions will take KWM’s partner count to 14 in Perth.

The firm has 87 legal professionals in WA and is ranked fourth in the BNiQ database.

The additions come shortly after corporate finance partner Shaun McRobert left KWM to join MinterEllison. Mr McRobert started with Minters in November last year.

Partner in Charge Perth John Naughton said the firm was seeing the local market expand significantly and he was delighted to be adding specialist expertise at this time.

“We are fortunate to have very strong national and international practices and the appointments of Carl and Sam will strengthen further our integrated east-west and north-south offering,” Mr Naughton said.

Mr Black has experience advising public and private sector clients on real estate developments and managing portfolios for large commercial property developers and asset owners in WA and overseas.

Mr Dundas acts for clients in complex commercial disputes and all aspects of administrations, receiverships and liquidations.

Both will join KWM this month.
