Sam Dundas

Samuel (Sam) Dundas is a litigator with particular experience advising clients in the mining, resources and energy sectors in relation to a range of matters including joint venture disputes, mining services disputes and corporate governance issues. He was appointed a partner of HWL Ebsworth's Perth team in July 2016. Prior to that, Mr Dundas was an executive counsel at Herbert Smith Freehills in its Perth and Melbourne offices, following almost three years in London with Clifford Chance. Mr Dundas has broad litigation experience, ranging from banking and insolvency disputes to mining and resources disputes. He regularly advises lenders, borrowers and insolvency practitioners in relation to restructuring and turnaround options, the enforcement of securities, the PPSA, priority disputes between creditors, insolvent transactions, the duties and liabilities of directors and insolvency practitioners, and compliance issues under regulatory laws. Mr Dundas also advises clients in the mining, resources and energy sectors in connection with a variety of matters including iron ore and petroleum joint venture disputes, mining services contract disputes, construction contract disputes, accounting disputes, negligence claims and breaches of directors' duties claims. He has experience in regulatory matters including investigations involving ASIC and the Corruption and Crime Commission. Mr Dundas was named in Best Lawyers™ Australia for Insolvency and Reorganization Law.
