Lenore Layman

Lenore Layman AM is an adjunct associate professor at the School of Arts in Murdoch University. She is an expert historian and assists the Asbestos Network's project team in the production of audio recordings, writing and validating the historical information which included establishing the historical timeline for the site. Ms Layman also collaborates with the Australian Research Council on research projects relating to the East Perth Power Station and the electrification of Perth, as well as a history of the goldfields town of Leonora-Gwalia. Her publications include ‘Organise! A visual record of the labour movement in Western Australia’; ‘Rica’s Stories’; and numerous articles on aspects of Western Australia’s industrial, labour and health history. Ms Layman is president of the Royal Western Australia Historical Society, a committee member of the Professional Historians Association of Western Australia and the Society for the Study of Labour History’s Perth Branch. In 2019, she was awarded a Member of the Order of Australia for significant service to higher education, particularly in the fields of Australian and public history.
