Internet service provider vividwireless has signed a multi-year deal with national telecommunications firm Vocus Communications to increase the capacity of its Perth 4G mobile broadband network.
Under the deal Vocus will provide vividwireless with high speed internet access and domestic communications service its Perth IX data centre, where vividwireless already hosts its equipment
Terms of the contract were not disclosed.
vividwireless chief executive Martin Mercer said Vocus was a clear favourite among telcos to provide the services.
“We selected Vocus for two important reasons,” Mr Mercer said.
“Firstly it was clear that their network operations and performance was excellent, but the clincher was the willingness of the Vocus team to work with us to deliver a unique solution that would fit with our growing business.”
Vocus said it would also partner with vividwireless as the Seven Group Holdings-owned company rolls out its 4G network in the eastern states.
vividwireless has established small footprints in Adelaide, Brisbane, Sydney, Melbourne and Canberra this year, after launching the Perth network late last year.
