Preliminary data from a magnetotelluric, or “MT” survey across key targets 120km north of Perth has identified a suite of conductors for Tambourah Metals at its Bolgart East, Yerecoin and Wongan Hill South projects.
Early imaging shows the presence of multiple conductors at each project where the company is targeting nickel, copper and platinum group elements amongst other resources.
Whilst the final data package is expected within the next couple of weeks, the initial results from the survey have highlighted follow-up priority targets for a ground electromagnetic survey.
Just last month Tambourah contracted survey company Expert Geophysics to commence a proprietary helicopter-based MT survey across the prospects that form the greater Julimar North project.
Geoscience Australia defines an MT survey as a passive geophysical method that uses natural time variations of the Earth’s magnetic and electric fields to measure the electrical resistivity of the sub-surface.
The company’s greater Julimar North nickel, copper and platinum project takes in a massive 1140 square kilometres near Chalice’s renowned Gonneville discovery. Chalice has a deposit of 330 million tonnes at 0.94 grams per tonne palladium, platinum and gold, 0.16 per cent nickel, 0.10 per cent copper and 0.016 per cent cobalt.
The in-ground resources at Gonneville stand at 10m ounces of palladium, platinum and gold, 530,000 tonnes of nickel, 330,000 tonnes of copper and 53,000 tonnes of cobalt.
Tambourah Metals Executive Chairman, Rita Brooks said: “The MMT survey has provided Tambourah with many conductors to assess and follow-up as we ramp up our exploration for critical minerals at Julimar Nth. With the large land holding at Julimar Nth and WH Sth the company is well positioned to unlock the mineral potential of its large tenement portfolio within the region”
The company’s Wongan Hills South targets are within a 5km radius of Caravel Minerals’ namesake copper project where 1.86 million tonnes of contained copper has been identified.
Tambourah says the Bolgart East project is prospective for hosting Gonneville-style nickel, copper and platinum group element mineralisation within ultramafic rocks.
It has also been busy over the past three months further north across its Pilbara tenements including a boost to the lithium prospectivity of the company’s Russian Jack project after the Geological Survey of WA confirmed the presence of abundant pegmatite veins and dykes.
The survey results followed an earlier announcement in September when the company added two new exploration licences to Russian Jack. The new zones returned rock chip assays going as high as 1420ppm lithium.
