Something to ‘cellarbrate’
A great bottle of wine is a must-have in any outdoor concert picnic basket; and to pay tribute to the winery that started the fashion in outdoor concerts 24 years ago, maybe a bottle of the latest Leeuwin Estate Arts Series is an appropriate choice this summer. Leeuwin Estate releases a new ‘Art Series’ each year around the time of its iconic outdoor concert. This year, Leeuwin released a 2005 Art Series Chardonnay and a 2003 Art Series Cabernet Sauvignon. The bottles are identified with paintings commissioned from contemporary Australian artists.
Eating up the entertainment
For those looking to tantalise their tastebuds with something a little special at a summer concert this year, Live at the Quarry has all the bases covered, thanks to the partnership the festival has with Lamont’s Restaurant. Partygoers can order a picnic hamper the Friday before the show to pick up at the venue on the day. The hamper includes spicy hommus dip, duck parfait, ceasar style salad, chermoula chicken and crème fraiche and more. It costs $65 and caters for two to four people.
Safe in the sun
Western Australia has becomes a pro-active state on the sunscreen front, with two Perth-based companies having developed innovative formulas for suncreens.
Wild Child offers a large range of chemical-free sunscreens for the whole family, while Invisible Zinc uses only one blocking agent, zinc oxide, generally regarded as best and safest physical blocking agent, according to the company’s website.
