Shaping WA: Business, Property and the Economy

Event Date:
21 September 2012
Time:
12:00pm
Venue:
Pan Pacific Perth

Overview

CEDA's inaugural 'Shaping WA' event will see three of Western Australia's most successful and high-profile leaders: Western Australian Treasurer, Troy Buswell; Macquarie Group, Chairman WA, Mark Barnaba; and Satterley Property Group, Founder and Chief Executive, Nigel Satterley; share the CEDA platform in a facilitated discussion about shaping the future needs and opportunities for WA.

WA's economy is the powerhouse of the country, with the State leading the nation in key economic growth, construction work, rates of employment, retail trade and equipment investment. WA's economy burgeoned by 14.5 per cent in the year to March 2012, buoyed by thriving business investment.

International uncertainty does cast shadows of concern, and WA will need to be proactive to mitigate risk. The softening global economy is already causing concern in the banking and investment sector. Yet other consumer-driven sectors in WA, such as property, that have endured prolonged downturns are finally showing signs of improvement.

What impact will the global economic instability have on WA? How will the State's newly-appointed Treasurer work to ensure that WA's current prosperity continues well into the future?

Join CEDA for this visionary discussion.
