Future Series Briefing: The Board in 2020
What will the board of the future look like in 2020?
By 2020 a Directors’ environment will be dominated by globalisation and technology. Given the increasing complexity of organisations and the pressure companies are feeling from all directions, directors will need ever-higher levels of skills and expertise.
Globalisation: As more Australian companies expand overseas or function as regional operations of global companies, directors will need a greater understanding of international business operations.
Structural changes: In response to increasing Director liability, might Board structures have changed by 2020? One alternative could be a moving to supervisory boards who provide strategic advice only to a management team who they appoint?
Diversity: The wheels have been turning very slowly, but could generational change encourage more diversity and will we see it around the Boardroom? Assuming that boards will be more diverse, will Chairmen have the skills to manage group dynamics and ensure that all voices are heard, including those from quieter cultures?
Join us and a panel of Directors who will discuss the Board of the Future and what that might mean for you as a Director.
