Critical Horizons is more than a conference. It’s the place to talk about tomorrow, today. By encouraging people to “look over the horizon” and consider how global trends could impact on regional areas, the series aims to help prepare people for what the coming years and decades might hold. By being better equipped for challenges and prepared to take advantage of opportunities, we can help create our own bright futures.

This energy futures conference - Powering the Future of WA - will open a window into the future of energy generation and storage.

WA Energy Minister Ben Wyatt will officially open a conference that will shine a light on the future of energy production and storage. Joining Minister Wyatt on stage will be a thought-provoking mix of leaders, trailblazers and industry experts from community, industry and government backgrounds. Speakers include:

- Jason Waters, Synergy chief executive officer, who will examine what is shaping WA’s electricity sector

- Tristy Fairfield from Carnegie Clean Energy who will discuss innovative solutions for a new economy including off-grid, battery energy storage and micro-grid technologies

- Glynn Ellis, chief business development officer of Redback Energy, who will shine a light on virtual power plants

- Kim Brooksbank from the Department of Primary Industries and Regional Development who will examine the future of bioenergy

- Glen Holland, SunWise Energy chief executive officer and founder, will talk about energy and sustainability

- Dominique Van Gent from the Department of Mines, Industry Regulation and Safety will focus on reducing industrially-generated carbon dioxide

- Heather Smith, chair of Coalition for Community Energy will help provide insight into how communities are shaping the energy landscape

- Lyn Serventy and Ian Williams, chair and deputy chair of Augusta Margaret River Clean Community Energy respectively

The cost of attending the conference is $90, with the price including a morning tea sponsored by Synergy as well as lunch and a post-event networking session.
