2015 Budget Briefing

Event Date:
20 May 2015
Perth Convention and Exhibition Centre
21 Mounts Bay Road, Perth WA 6000

This year we are proud to continue the tradition of bringing you authoritative sources to inform your thinking in hosting the Hon. Dr Mike Nahan, Treasurer of Western Australia to deliver the 2015 Budget Briefing.

Dr Nahan holds a PhD in Economics from the Australian National University and was awarded a Centenary Medal by the Australian Government in 2000 for his contribution to public policy. He has been Treasurer of Western Australia since March 2014 and this year will hand down his second budget.

The State Budget is arguably the single most important instrument for the government of the day to direct the efforts of the public service. For both the public and the public service it clearly indicates areas of service priority. In recent years the state budget has controlled annual expenditure of approximately $30 billion dollars towards serving Australia’s largest jurisdiction.

The Treasurer will go beyond individual agency funding allocations to provide you with the all important contextual information. In attending this session you can expect to hear an assessment of the current state of public finances, the most important factors in the today’s economic environment shaping the future, and importantly the underlying assumptions behind this year’s budget.

You will of course have the opportunity to engage the Treasurer in conversation with a Q&A session to follow his presentation.
