Career guides

• Understanding the importance of creating an organisation where every employee has a sense of ownership and ‘buy in’.

• Belief in a high value of honesty. Mr Burke has turned down large profitable projects because he didn’t believe his business had the skills sets required to deliver an outstanding result, or because the client’s values and beliefs did not match his own.

Personal/community

Mr Burke founded the Australian Web Industry Association in late 2002 and has been the chairperson since its incorporation. The association has grown from a small WA only chapter to having chapters in most capital cities.

Mr Burke has been a member of the organising committee for Styleaid and sponsored various charities.

Top tips

“There is not one inspirational quote which has motivated me, more a collection of quotes and ideals. One that I recall well, and encourages me is ‘Winners never quit and quitters never win’.”
