Peter Harold was born and educated in Melbourne and holds a bachelor of applied science in chemistry from the University of Melbourne.

After university, Mr Harold spent three years with Shell Australia in various commercial roles before commencing his career in the mining industry in 1989 with Australian Consolidated Minerals, as marketing manager for the Golden Grove Project, based in Perth. 

He returned to Melbourne in 1992 to join MPI Mines as commercial executive.  

After 10 years in Melbourne, Mr Harold relocated to Perth to establish Sally Malay Mining in early 2001.

The business has grown from a blank sheet of paper into a significant nickel producer with two operating mines. The top 50 WA ASX listed company has now more than 300 full-time employees and a market capitalisation of over $600 million.
