Accomplishments

Leading and managing the transformation of Artrage has been one of Marcus Canning’s biggest achievements.

“Artrage is now in a state defined by dynamism, vitality, forward momentum, and full-blooded oxygenation,” he said.

During the past four year Mr Canning says he put in place a four-folded plan to develop a sustainable managed level for the organisation, diversify Artrage programs, and invest in the development of a new year-round venue.

He also increased the capacity of the organisation through the development of broad organisational management models and increased income and resources generating strategies and sources.

Personal/community

Mr Canning has a degree in landscape architecture and fine arts from UWA and a diploma of project management.

He has sat as an honorarium member on a wide array of cultural and funding boards and committees including – among others – the WA Department of Culture and the Arts, Artsedge committee and the Arts Development committee. He has been a long-term member of Technology and the Arts Festivals Australia Committee, which funds and strategically develops cultural activity at festivals in remote and regional areas across Australia.
