A development assessment panel has approved a $55 million commercial centre with five fast food outlets south of Perth.
The Metro Outer Joint Development Assessment Panel today unanimously approved Accord Property’s proposal to build its bulky goods retail development on an 8.2-hectare lot on South Western Highway, Byford.
Accord Property proposed to build a centre comprising 21 showrooms, five fast food or takeaway tenancies and 699 car parking bays.
The national property group has a Perth office in Subiaco.
In the development application prepared by Planning Solutions, the applicant proposed for two of the five fast food outlets to have a drive-through.
“As no tenants are confirmed, it is noted that a number of operators, including those who prepare healthier takeaway options could prospectively lease the tenancies,” the application said.
Planning Solutions staff, on behalf of Accord Property, said the proposed centre had been designed around the anchor tenant.
“We do have a pre-commitment … a large warehouse operator, we confidentially can’t disclose who it is,” they said at the meeting.
“They have a very strict design brief that we had to adhere to.”
Shire of Serpentine Jarrahdale councillor and JDAP member Tricia Duggin said Byford was an area of incredible growth.
“Certainly, I think this is going to be a great benefit to the shire,” she said at the meeting.
Panel members have approved to grant planning approval, to be valid for four years.
The Byford site is owned by Wallmar Pty Ltd and Cecil & Esther Developments Pty Ltd, according to the development application.
Australian Securities and Investments Commission documents show the two companies are owned by the Coli family, including C & E Developments director Warren Coli.
According to RP data, Cecil & Esther Developments owns a commercial centre, comprised of showrooms, which houses a Harvey Norman shop on Scarborough Beach Road in Osborne Park.
