Fortescue’s Southeast Asia president quits

Fortescue Future Industries’ South and Southeast Asia president Allard Nooy has joined the migration of senior staffers departing the company in recent months.

It comes just two weeks after US-based FFI director Todd Clewett resigned after he accepted a role “closer to home” after four years with the Andrew Forrest-led company. 

Mr Nooy’s Linkedin profile describes his role as responsible for the country management teams and for a profile of large-scale hydropower, geothermal, solar and wind assets to support green hydrogen production.

He spent a year and five months with Fortescue, after a seven-year stint as chief executive of InfraCo Asia, which invests and develops infrastructure projects.  

The departure of Fortescue executives is headlined by the abrupt exit of former chief executive Fiona Hick after she was lured from Woodside Energy.

In a statement, a Fortescue spokesperson said the company had “one of the lowest turnover rates of any company in the mining industry.”

“Fortescue signalled to the market that the expansion of the company into green energy and metals required a deeper management bench,” they said.

“This has all been carefully planned and signalled.

“We undertook a search for executives externally and internally with a strong track record of delivering transformation, innovation and enhanced value for shareholders.”
