The Department of Biodiversity, Conservation and Attractions is led by Director General Mark Webb. Mr Webb holds the concurrent appointment of the Chief Executive Officer of the Rottnest Island Authority, Botanic Gardens and Parks Authority, and Zoological
Parks Authority. Mr Webb studied at the University of Western Australian and Cambridge University in the UK. He has a background in research, farming and management. From 2004 to March 2016, Mr Webb was the chief executive of the Botanic Gardens and Parks Authority based at Kings Park. In March 2016, he was appointed acting director general of the Western Australian Department of Agriculture and Food. He sits on several national and international committees and boards, and has a long term interest in social justice.
