Droxford International is owned by Indonesian company The Salim Group. Once a dominant player in the Indonesian economy, owning hundreds of companies ranging from the largest private bank to various agriculture and food businesses, the conglomerate was much diminished by the Asian financial crisis, which coincided with the 1998 fall of the Suharto regime.
Chairman and chief executive Anthoni Salim, son of the group’s late founder, subsequently rebuilt the business and expanded into new areas from telecommunications to natural resources, including mines in Australia such as the Windimurra vanadium mine, and the Mount Pleasant coal asset in NSW which is held by Droxford subsidiary MACH Energy Australia.
