Venture Minerals has engaged resources-focused advisory company Argonaut PCF to undertake a strategic review of the Riley iron ore mine in Tasmania following increased interest due to high iron ore prices. The company believes it is in a position to consider its options after its offtake agreement with Prosperity Stell lapsed and the iron ore price rose to more than $220 per tonne in December.

Venture Minerals has engaged Curtin University to start stage-two metallurgical testwork on its tin-rich Mount Lindsay borates. The testing follows the CSIRO's stage-one investigation into the extraction of tin, boron and iron from tin-iron borates, conducted in a bid to enhance tin recovery and produce a high-value boron byproduct to add another revenue stream to the project.

Venture Minerals has completed highly encouraging metallurgical drilling and appointed a senior mining engineer to complete its feasibility study for a new underground tin mine at Mount Lindsay, Tasmania. The undeveloped tin project is one of the largest in the world with more than 80,000 tonnes of tin and a globally significant critical metal content of 3,200,000 metric tonnes of tungsten.

Petrology studies have confirmed primary nickel sulphides at Emu's Sunfire nickel-copper-PGE project near Bridgetown in the southwest of WA. Historical reports accompanying two diamond drill holes from 1970 identified the presence of the nickel-bearing minerals “pentlandite” and “millerite” from relatively shallow depths of 65 metres to 140m with the revelation to drive an aggressive exploration programme later this year.

Venture Minerals is scrubbing up its Tasmanian tin-tungsten play in rapid fire after drilling at its Mount Lindsay project rattled off a clutch of exemplary results including a monster 119.2 metre intersection grading 0.8 per cent tin and 0.2 per cent tungsten from 75.8m. Remarkably, Venture says the hole is still open and that it is still awaiting additional assay results.
