I challenged myself to an industry I knew nothing about. My favourite drink, bubble tea. Managing Director, Block One Hospitality - North Bird, Ezra Pound, The Bird
With a degree in IT and programming experience, I pivoted my career into financial planning, owning a financial planning business, garnering multiple awards, until April 2020. However, my licensee's deceptive contract changes left me with a reasonable debt. Instead of dwelling on financial loss, I embraced the gained knowledge and personal growth. In 2017, I acquired a 50% share in Ezra Pound, a struggling business with debt. In 2018 I took another substantial risk, investing my savings, leaving only a very small amount for emergencies, to purchase The William Street Bird. While the main venue was stable, its subsidiary faced challenges. After a modest refit, I ran the business as a function centre until early 2020. A significant overhaul transformed it into the North Bird Wine Store and Bar, reopening in February 2020, only to close a month later due to the onset of COVID-19.
