Surefire Resources has kicked off two separate phases of RC drilling that intersected broad zones of sulphides at its Yidby Road gold deposit near the 1.1-million-ounce Minjar gold project in WA. The company peppered Yidby with 22 RC holes totalling 2,298m with a view to extending the existing Yidby deposit. Previous hits at the deposit include 40 metres going 3.01 grams per tonne gold from 24m.
That intersection included a higher grade 4m core going 26.57 g/t gold from 52m.
The company says phase one of the drilling program targeted potential gold mineralisation from mobile metal ions soil sampling completed to the west of the Yidby Road gold deposit.
In the second phase Surefire used an Explorac HC220 drill rig to penetrate a number of deep holes below that deposit.
As part of its recent exploration efforts the company also completed an intensive interpretation of soil samples bagged at the Money soil anomaly to identify anomalous trends
According to the company, the recently identified “Money” anomaly encompasses an area of about one kilometre in length by 250m in width.
The latest round of drilling at the Yidby Road gold deposit included three holes the deepest of which reached 274m. The trio of holes were designed to identify gold mineralisation at depth along strike from a 100m intersection grading 0.53 g/t from 96m that included a 13m hit going 2.17 g/t from 113m.
Yidby discovered an 18m quartz-sulphite anomaly from 212m. Some of the better intersections from prior drilling included 56m grading 1.97 g/t gold from 44m and a 32m hit going 3.68 g/t gold from 150m.
The company says the results from work to date underline the deposit’s potential for additional extensions.
Surefire says all samples collected from its latest drilling campaign have been submitted for assay analysis and results are anticipated by Christmas.
The recent drilling at Yidby follows a busy year for Surefire who has chalked up several thousand metres of RC drilling as it looks to progress towards a maiden mineral resource.
Elsewhere at Surefire’s Kooline lead-silver project in WA, Surefire recently unearthed three “exciting” new bedrock conductors after modelling historic airborne electromagnetic data. It says the conductors have yet to see any prior drilling and it is gearing up for follow-up surveys at Kooline after securing government funding to complete the drilling.
With drilling at Yidby continuing to pull in solid numbers, Surefire will be likely be quietly optimistic its recent round of drilling could support the extension of the known Yidby Road gold deposit as the company works towards its maiden mineral resource.
