* A CAMPAIGN by the Stirling City Council has paid off with the WA Government announcing work will start on western extension of the Reid Highway. Engineer Henry Walker Eltin has been given the contract to complete the $16 million extension.

Engineer Henry Walker Eltin has been given the contract to complete the $16 million extension. Council has put $3.5 million towards the project that will carry the existing Reid Highway from Mitchell Freeway to Marmion Avenue in Carine and relieve pressure on the local road network, particularly North Beach Road.
* PART of Clive Street is to become one-way thoroughfare, according to a concept plan from the Perth City Council. A staff note to council said the West Perth side street’s mostly commercial nature was slowly changing to a more residential one. The note said the street was in need of upgrading to keep it in line with council’s policy on streetscape design. Residents in the new apartments on Clive Street asked for the street to be made one-way.
