A RECENTLY launched, WA-owned satellite telecommunications provider is likely to improve the lot of Internet users in the South West.
BinCom Satellite Systems is promising quick and consistent service to all locations.
Regional Development Minister Hendy Cowan said digital data services helped businesses to access market information and improve their international competitiveness.
“It is vital for the health of our economy and our society that everyone has access to modern telecommunications, no matter where they work,” Mr Cowan said.
“For our huge State, with its scattered population distribution, the use of satellite systems seems an obvious solution.”
Mr Cowan said a WA Government open tender process had resulted in Optus entering the regional market with a high-speed, two-way satellite service – a huge advantage for outback WA.
“Businesses can now approach Optus as well as Telstra to find the best match for their needs.”
With BinCom now entering the market, the choice continues to widen.
