Student beats best in business

LOCAL university of WA honours student Phillip De Vos has beaten engineering brains in the east to win the position of Australian Automotive Industry overseas ambassador.

Mr De Vos was chosen from a field of twenty candidates who presented their technical research papers at the Society of Automotive Engineers – Australasia Young Engineers, recent Melbourne conference.

The candidates were chosen on the technical content and quality of their paper.

Mr De Vos was the only WA candidate at the conference.

Mr De Vos will present his project at an overseas conference and take part in a ten day overseas work assignment to develop technical awareness, network and experience world’s best practice.

The prize is the culmination of a Mechanical Engineering

honours project Mr De Vos undertook in conjunction with Orbital Engines as part of the Cooperative Education for Enterprise Development program.
