LAW firm Phillips Fox wants to leverage its recent sponsorship deal with the Fremantle Dockers to build a positive image of corporate citizenship.
While sponsoring a football team doesn’t offer too much in the way of community kudos, by bringing its other sponsor – Starlight Children’s Foundation – in on the game, Phillips Fox’s sponsorship package starts to make sense.
The year-long sponsorship deal is the largest sponsorship package invested by the law firm and aims to build awareness of its association with the children’s charity.
The sponsorship deal will make an impact this weekend when the Fremantle Dockers plays its Phillips Fox Starlight Purple Haze Game at Subiaco Oval, where supporters are encouraged to wear purple and donate money to the Starlight Foundation.
According to Phillips Fox marketing manager Jane Stacey, the deal with the Dockers helps the firm promote its association with the Starlight Children’s Foundation Australia.
“We have been lawyers to the Dockers for some time now. They approached us about sponsoring them, with a focus on the purple haze day. We didn’t see the value in having lawyers sponsor it,” Ms Stacey said.
“But we thought we could bring Starlight in and promote our association with them and raise much needed funds for the charity.”
She said the arrangement would generate greater awareness and funding for the charity.
It also would help the firm promote its extra-curricular activities to staff members.
About 50 Phillips Fox staff will be rattling tins for the Starlight Children’s Foundation Australia at the gates of Subiaco when Fremantle plays Richmond this Saturday.
