PLANS to split the Augusta-Margaret River Shire to create a new Shire of Augusta are going ahead, even though a petition supporting the move was rejected by the Local Government Advisory Board due to a technicality.
There were more than enough valid signatures on the petition but it appeared sheets signed by petitioners were not accompanied by a sheet setting out the proposal as required by regulations.
