ONLINE sex retailer Adult shop.com has beaten household e-commerce names to be named the number one e-tailer in Australia.

The ZDNet survey found the Adultshop.com website had excellent ease of use, security, privacy and product information. The WA-based e-tailer beat well-known names including eBay, dstore, Myer Direct and Qantas.

The award comes at a time when the company has faced very public scrutiny from regulator the Australian Securities and Invest-ments Commission.

Adultshop.com marketing manager Marc Loveridge said he was more surprised to learn the company had been included in the survey than to find it had won.

“Normally the media won’t look past the actual product category we are in. It shocked me we were included,” Mr Loveridge said.

“I think we hold our own in the Australian marketplace in terms of an e-commerce offering.

“What we offer online actually has a unique selling proposition, we’re not just selling books at the same price that you can buy them at a bookstore, we’re selling discretion,” Mr Loveridge concluded.
