WA pair joins International Education board
University of Western Australia deputy vice-chancellor, community and engagement Kent Anderson (pictured) and incoming Navitas chair Tracey Horton are among the 11 members appointed to the Council for International Education.
The council is being set up as part of the federal government’s National Strategy for International Education 2025.
Ms Horton has been on the board of education provider Navitas since 2012, and in August was named as Harvey Collins’ successor as chair when he steps down in November.
She was dean of the UWA Business School from 2004 to 2011, and is the immediate past president of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Western Australia.
Professor Anderson joined UWA in 2014, after a previous position as pro vice-chancellor, international at the University of Adelaide.
With a background in international law, with a focus on Asian comparative law, he is a former dean of Asian Studies at the Australian National University.
Walker joins AAM Group
Geospatial services firm AAM Group has appointed Anthony Walker as head of geosolutions, with particular responsibility for the company’s Geocirrus platform.
Mr Walker previously spent two and a half years as chief operating officer of Perth-based firm INX Software (formerly Cube Consulting), which he joined in 2010.
Prior to that position he worked as strategic manager at Cintellate.
Ralph resigns from IFAP
Martin Ralph has resigned as chief executive of the Industrial Foundation for Accident Prevention, after 15 years in the role.
Mr Ralph founded radiation safety consultancy Mirad Services in 1993.
He has been involved in the running of IFAP since 1994.
IFAP president Richard Mehan steps into the role at the organisation.
Mills Oakley adds Taylor
Mills Oakley has recruited Brendan Taylor as partner in its Perth disputes team.
Mr Taylor was managing principal and head of litigation at now-defunct firm Rockwell Olivier (formerly Talbot Olivier).
Since the breakup of Rockwell Olivier at the start of 2015, Mr Taylor has run his own practice, Taylor Olivier.
New AAAC president
Bedbrook Johnston Williams partner Tim Johnston has been appointed president of the Australian Association of Agricultural Consultants WA.
He replaces the outgoing president Richard Vincent, who leaves after serving three one-year terms in the role.
Sara Hector has been appointed secretary of the organisation.
