PwC has appointed Michelle Tremain as the next managing partner, Perth. She will replace Justin Carroll in the role from the beginning of next year. Ms Tremain has served as a partner of the firm since 2004. Mr Carroll will remain with the firm as a partner.
Roger Hughes has joined West Perth-based consulting firm Checkside as client director. Mr Hughes has previously held positions as general manager, HR and health, safety, environment and quality at Macmahon, organisational growth and development manager at Fortescue, and HR manager at Ravensthorpe Nickel for BHP.
International law firm Pinsent Masons has established a Perth office with the recruitment of Adrienne Parker. She is one of four Norton Rose Fulbright partners recently lured to the firm, the other three of whom are based in the eastern states. Ms Parker has also been appointed a non-executive director of Fleetwood Corporation.
The University of Western Australia has appointed Phil Watson Shell chair in offshore engineering. Prof Watson was previously global director, geoconsulting at Fugro. He replaces the outgoing Shell chair David White, who, along with fellow UWA academic Susan Gourvenec, has been recruited by the University of Southampton to work in the UK’s new National Linear Infrastructure Laboratory.
Talent management services firm Lee Hecht Harrison has appointed Lyndsay Potts managing director, Perth. Mr Potts was previously managing director of the firm’s Singapore office. Also joining the firm are Rosalind Potts and Sarah Williams, as practice lead, organisational capacity, and operations manager respectively.
The South West Development Commission has appointed Rebecca Ball as acting chief executive. Ms Ball has held multiple senior roles with Austrade, and most recently served as executive director of the Office of Multicultural Interests. Earlier this month, Nick Belyea and Jennie Franceschi were appointed to SWDC’s board as chair and deputy chair, respectively. They replaced Stuart Hicks and Sue Daubney.
The state government has appointed Dione Bilick as surveyor general of Western Australia, the first woman to hold the title. A former mine surveyor, Ms Bilick is currently Landgate manager, cadastral surveys, and sits on the Land Surveyors Licensing Board.
Arc Infrastructure general manager safety, people and corporate affairs Megan McCracken has been appointed chair of the National Association of Women in Operations. She replaces outgoing chair, and NAWO founder, Angela Tatlis in the position. Ms McCracken joined Arc (formerly Brookfield Rail) in 2012, after employee relations roles with Dalkia Australia and Rio Tinto.
Edith Cowan University has recruited Vito Forte as chief information officer. Mr Forte was previously global key account director at Oracle, which he joined in 2015. He spent more than four years as chief information officer for Fortescue Metals Group, after previously serving as global CIO with WorleyParsons.
Former member of the WA legislative assembly Cheryl Edwardes has been appointed a member of the Foreign Investment Review Board for a five year term. Ms Edwardes is a former state attorney general. She currently chairs Vimy Resources, and formerly chaired Atlas Iron of which she remains a director. Ms Edwardes is a commissioner of the WA Football Commission, and a non-executive director of AusCann Group Holdings.
The Association of Mining & Exploration Companies has appointed Warren Pearce as chief executive. He will begin in the role in November, replacing Simon Bennison.
