New woman hits town

LOCAL publishing group Consolidated Business Media has taken the plunge into the competitive women’s magazine market with the launch of the quarterly publication Perth Woman.

Headed up by John Webb, Consoli-dated Business Media has launched an aggressive advertising campaign on television, radio and in the press.

The prime time television spots featuring former Network 10 newsreader Christina Morrissy are currently on air on both Channel Seven and Channel Nine Perth.

The magazine is available at newsagents for $4.95, and Perth Woman editor Kayt Davies says the product offers local women something quite different to rival publications Scoop and Perth Weekly.

Consolidated Business Media has published 20,000 copies of the first issue and there are plans to increase this number for the spring issue.

“At this stage there are 20,000 copies of the first issue in the metropolitan area and we’ll be looking at the sales figures,” Ms Davies says.

“I think we’ll probably sell out.

“There’s really no Perth-based glossy magazine for women.

“There’s Scoop but that’s a very five-star publication aimed at a small minority of people who have a certain type of wealth.

“Then there’s Perth Weekly, but it’s confined to the western suburbs and it’s weekly.”

Consolidated Business Media design company Design Firm has developed the marketing material for the advertising campaign and press advertisements to attract advertisers to the new publication.

Mr Webb previously established the Every Woman expo in Perth that was sold earlier this year as part of a group of expos in the Perth market.

Consolidated Business Media has a number of different branches, including Australian Lifestyle Publishing (which publishes Perth Woman), Design Firm, Web Firm, Australian Business Directories and Consolidated Events Australia.
