Former Newmont Mining Australian exploration director Lynda Daley has been appointed managing director of gold, base metals and nickel explorer Sipa Resources.
She replaces 28 year veteran of the company Mike Doepel who will remain on the board in a non-executive role.
Ms Daley, who joined Sipa last month as exploration manager, said she had worked with Sipa over many years on other projects including the Sipa-Newmont Gold Generative Alliance.
“My desire is to continue the technical excellence in greenfield exploration that Sipa is known for.”
Sipa chairman Ian Pearce thanked Mr Doepel for his contribution to the company since its public listing in 1987.
Mr Doepel said it had been a privilege to lead Sipa for almost three decades, but it was time to pass the baton.
“It is great that Lynda has agreed to accept the position and (I) know that Sipa will be in capable hands,” he said.
This year Sipa raised $4.4 million after having to utilise multiple shortfall placements after missing its initial $5.6 million target.
The money is being used for exploration programs including its Kitgum Pader precious and base metals project in Uganda and its Thaduna copper project in the Gascoyne.
Sipa shares were unchanged at $0.051 on Thursday following the late announcement to the market.
