MIRVAC Fini has lodged and presented the proposed structure plan for its $700 million joint venture development with Burswood Ltd on the old Swan Portland site in Victoria Park.
Following a briefing from the developers, the Victoria Park Council is expected to vote on the plan at its meeting next week.
It is the first time the proposed development has gone before council since the process began 15 months ago.
A plan prepared by HPA Architects for the joint venture company BL Developments Pty Ltd also incorporates land owned by the Department of Land Administration and Main Roads WA.
The high-density development proposed for the 17.1-hectare site on the Burswood peninsula is two kilometres from Perth’s CBD and will provide more than 1,250 dwellings.
Burswood Lakes is a 10-year project expected to create a 3,000-resident neighbourhood with a diverse range of housing options.
More than 2.5 hectares of the new neighbourhood is proposed as public open space featuring eight lakes and two major parks, including a central circular park and a piazza. The site overlooks the Burswood Park Golf Course, the Swan River and the Perth CBD.
The purpose of the structure plan is to deal with the overall development concept, including the road and pedestrian network and the location of major infrastructure
The development is the biggest yet undertaken in Perth by 18-month-old Mirvac Fini – the result of a 2001 merger between the WA owned and operated Fini Group and east coast property giant Mirvac.
