WA-BASED Interactive Video Security has announced plans to merge with a South African security firm, bringing the WA company a greater international focus.
The merger, with South African company Intervid, will combine the surveillance services and product manufacturing currently offered by the two companies.
Intervid managing director Chris le Sueur said the merger would provide Intervid with its first office in Australia.
The company already has offices in South Africa, the US, the Middle East and the UK.
“In addition, the marriage of Intervid and IVS gives us economy of scale that makes production and marketing cost effective and is in line with our expansion plans,” Mr le Sueur said. “We share similar philosophies and outlooks and this deal will enable us to continue developing sound relationships in the Australasian region.”
IVS managing director Simon Hubble founded the WA security company 10 years ago.
Mr Hubble will form part of the management team at Intervid Australia, along with his brothers Andrew and Dominic, both former directors of IVS.
Simon Hubble believed a recent win in the innovation category at the 2001 Security Industry and Crime Prevention Awards helped IVS strike a deal with Intervid.
“The win for IVS was a positive for the deal with Intervid,” Mr Hubble said.
“It was a public and industry acknowledgment that what we have been working on in the past 10 years is cutting edge and that we are good at what we do.”
