Good Drinks Australia has signed a deal to distribute Magners Irish Cider, after the drink brand’s previous supplier Coca-Cola Europacific Partners left the alcohol business.
The new deal, signed with the brand’s parent company C&C Group, means Good Drinks Australia will be the exclusive importer and distributor for packaged and draught Magners Original Irish Cider brands in Australia.
Listed on the London Stock Exchange, C&C Group distributes beer, wine, spirits and soft drinks across the United Kingdom and Ireland and exports its Magners Irish Cider to more than 40 countries.
Good Drinks will start distributing the cider from July 1, 2022 until February 28, 2026, with the potential to extend for a further three years.
Magners Irish Cider was distributed by Bacardi-Martini Australia from 2014 to 2017, and has been supplied by Coca-Cola Europacific Partners since 2017.
However, in October 2021, Coca-Cola Europacific announced it was leaving the beer and cider industry in Australia, and said its contract with C&C Group would end in the first half of 2022.
Good Drinks Australia managing director John Hoedemaker said the new partnership was in line with its strategy and added diversity to its portfolio.
“It allows Good Drinks to increase the scale of its national sales capability, while leveraging its reach,” Mr Hoedemaker told the ASX.
The group said the move would help it to become a leading supplier in the national alcohol market and to support brands that drive incremental margin growth.
It also gives the group the ability to develop a larger market share on the east coast.
Good Drinks Australia’s other brands include San Miguel, Gage Roads Brew Co, Atomic Beer Project, Alby, Matso’s and Hello Sunshine.
The deal follows the release of the company’s half year results, which showed that its revenue increased by 16 per cent to $32.9 million, compared to December 2020.
Its net profit was down 30 per cent to $2.5 million, but the prior reporting period included $979,500 in JobKeeper payments.
In January, Gage Roads Brew Co opened its flagship venue in Fremantle.
