Shane McDermott has resigned as chief financial officer and company secretary of Buru Energy, after 13 years with the company. Current general manager for commercial Alex Forcke will become interim company secretary until a new chief financial officer has been appointed.
Geopacific Resources has appointed Mike Brook, Richard Clayton and Hansjoerg Plaggemars as non-executive directors. They replace Ian Murray and Colin Gilligan who have resigned from the board. Mr Brook is a mining professional with hands-on global mining industry experience across multiple jurisdictions and commodities, from early-stage exploration through to production. Mr Clayton has over 20 years of mining sector experience covering technical, advisory, and financial services roles. Mr Plaggemars is an experienced company director with a strong background in corporate finance, corporate strategy and governance; and is a representative of the company’s largest shareholder Delphi Unternehmensberatung Group1. The appointments come as the company looks towards a board with experience in geology, technical and commercial assessment, optimisation and development of mining assets, and strong corporate experience to progress its Woodlark Gold Project. Geopacific has also appointed Robert Igara as chair of Woodlark Mining, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Geopacific and 100% holder of the Woodlark Gold Project. Mr Igara is a former diplomat and former chief secretary to the Government of Papua New Guinea, and has a long and distinguished career in leading public and private organisations.
Sandfire Resources has appointed international business executives Sally Martin and Robert Edwards as independent non-executive directors, with Derek La Ferla retiring from the board. Ms Martin is an electrical engineer with extensive operational and business team leadership experience in complex industrial environments including refining and trading. UK-based Mr Edwards is a mining engineer with 30 years of experience in the resources industry, primarily in frontier and emerging markets. Sandfire has also promoted Richard Holmes from head of exploration to executive for growth, and appointed Scott Browne as executive for people and performance. Mr Holmes will be responsible for the overall strategic oversight and management of the company’s various global business development opportunities and organic exploration programs. Mr Browne will focus on enhancing the company’s culture, and the engagement and high performance of its employees and contractors.
