COMMUNITY favourite Italian restaurant, Pavarotti café is to close after 15 years in Nedlands. The Pavarotti was forced to close its doors due to a lease renewal problem. Although management was aware of the pending situation for some two years, this did not make owner Max Mazzilli's last day any more palatable.
"It's very sad. I have had customers coming regularly for years. First, they were a young couple, now you see them coming in with kids ... and on top of that, we have new visitors discovering us all the time".
In fact, Mr Mazzilli says business has never been better. Citing simple dishes, sensible pricing, exceptional service and high staff loyalty (the cook's been in the kitchen for 12 years) as secrets to lasting success, Mr Mazzilli is hoping to relocate close by to sustain the hungry western suburbs masses into the future.
