HAS the growing metrosexual culture changed the way we make beers?

Low carbohydrate beers haven't exactly taken Australia's beer market by storm; in fact it's hard to think of a low-carb brew that's made much of a mark in the past couple of years beyond Foster's Pure Blonde.

But times are changing and it seems low-carb beers are getting better press and, as a result, gaining acceptance.

The latest addition is from Palmyra-based microbrewer Gage Roads, with its latest release, Kutt. The company says Kutt combines "the two fastest growing segments of the beer market; low carb beer and craft brewed beer in one product".

Kutt will be available in bottle shops next month.

Lion Nathan recently announced the release of its new low-carb beer, Tooheys New White Stag.

Meanwhile, Little World Beverages is currently building new brewing facilities in Victoria, which will be dedicated to developing a new beer brand.

The latest cocktail bar addition to Perth is not located in the CBD or even Claremont or Subiaco; instead, punters will have to travel to Joondalup Resort to find out what the new cocktail bar, View 180, offers.

Located on the upper level, View 180 replaces what used to be the unused lobby bar of the resort.

After six months of renovations, the cocktail lounge was launched on October 4.

The special facility licensed venue is open Friday and Saturday from 3pm to midnight and Sunday from 3pm to 9pm and seats 80 people.

Joondalup Resort food and beverages manager Russell Cormack says the venue has sweeping views of the swimming pool and the golf course.

It is decorated in black and white, has a lounge-type feel indoors, with the terrace furnished with high tables and chairs.
