Blair Marsh has been appointed as South Regional TAFE managing director, set to commence a five-year term on November 2. In this new role, Mr Marsh will guide the delivery of vocational education and training to more than 10,000 students in the South West and Great Southern regions. Mr Marsh has worked in the TAFE sector in Western Australia for two decades, most recently serving the past eight years as South Metropolitan TAFE general manager of training services.
Perth Symphony Orchestra has unveiled Mark Reed’s appointment to its board of directors, bringing more than 15 years of experience in political campaigning and strategic planning to the arts organisation. Mr Reed formerly served as a member of Premier Mark McGowan’s senior staff from 2017 to 2022, including as strategic advisor and strategic director. He was also a media advisor involved in campaigns and communications at United Voice WA for six years, and a media officer for the federal government for over 2.5 years. Mr Reed joined public affairs company Anacta in September 2022 and helped establish the company's office in Perth.
Mark Rodda was selected as Antipa Minerals’ next executive chair. As well as being a seasoned lawyer and corporate consult, Mr Rodda has served as a director at the junior for the past 14 years. He will take over as executive chair from Stephen Power, who will remain as a non-executive director.
Town of Cambridge mayor Gary Mack has been named Law Society of Western Australia president, to start next year. Mr Mack has been senior vice president at the organisation since October 2022. He will replace Paula Wilkinson, who has held the role of president since January, on the first day of 2025. Mr Mack is an independent children's lawyer and family dispute resolution practitioner and is a principal at Abacus Legal & Mediation. He also serves on the Legal Practice Board and on the Professional Affairs Committee as deputy convenor.
Mark Olson will not appeal a decision by the Industrial Relations Commission to oust him as the Australian Nursing Federation state secretary after only six weeks in the role. Western Australian IRC chief commissioner Stephen Kenner granted interim orders on behalf of ANF council vice-president Romina Raschilla, who sought for Mr Olson be removed as state secretary of the union. Mr Olson said the ANF council will meet on Monday to appoint his replacement.
