The Department of Justice has appointed Kylie Maj as its next director general for a five year-term starting on June 28. Ms Maj has more then 20 years of experience working senior executive roles in the public sector, including her current role as deputy director general strategic reform. During her career, Ms Maj established the Legislative Services directorate, convened the Aboriginal Justice Advisory Committee and developed the Family and Domestic Violence Strategic Framework. Once she steps into her new position with the Department of Justice, Ms Maj is expected to drive reform and deliver improved justice outcomes.
Ragnar Metals chair Steve Formica has been appointed non-executive chair of junior gold miner Kaiser Reef. Mr Formica has more than 35 years’ experience in private business across multiple industry sectors and has served as a non-executive director and investor in several ASX-listed companies. He joined Ragnar as chair in 2019.
Rare earths junior Northern Minerals non-executive director Adam Handley will take over as executive chair from Nicholas Curtis, who has transitioned into a new role as Northern’s strategic advisor for a minimum of 12 months. Meanwhile, Shane Hartwig has been promoted from financial director to managing director and chief executive officer – duties also completed by Mr Curtis during his tenure. Northern said it was presently considering opportunities regarding the addition of new directors to the board, along with a chief financial officer.
Perth-based African-focused Lindian Resources has appointed non-executive director Alwyn Vorster as chief executive for an initial 12-month term, with option for extension. Mr Vorster has more than 30 years of experience in the resources sector, including former stints as chief at Iron Ore Holdings, API Management, BCI Minerals and Hastings Technology Metals Ltd. Lindian also confirmed the appointment of Kellie Davis as joint company secretary, replacing Brett Tucker. Ms Davis brings more than 20 years’ experience in accounting and ASX compliance, with a main focus in the resources sector.
Equinox Resources chief executive officer Zac Komur has been appointed managing director of the iron ore junior, effective from June 1. Mr Komur, who was appointed CEO in September last year, has played an integral role in the Perth-based company accelerating its portfolio of Brazil-based rare earths projects.
West Perth-based Neometals has appointed Jennifer Purdie as its chief operating officer. During her initial term, which runs through until December 31, Dr Purdie – an existing non-executive director – will provide support three days a week, with a primary focus on the company’s joint venture, dubbed Primobius, with SMS Group in Germany. Dr Purdie has a vast range of experience working for international mining companies, formerly holding engineering, senior technology, strategy and operations roles.
