SportWest has recruited experienced Western Australian football administrator Troy Kirkham as chief executive, effective late July. Mr Kirkham, who attained success across a wide variety of game development roles at West Australian Football Commission for over 10 years, was also crowned WA Sports Administrator of the Year at the 2023 WA Sport Awards.
Town planner Jane Bennett has added another position to her list of government roles, having joined the state’s environmental watchdog. Ms Bennett has been appointed to the Environmental Protection Authority for a three-year term. She is the owner and managing director of CLE Town Planning + Design, a company she’s been with since mid-2004. Ms Bennett has been involved with the planning-related state government bodies, being the deputy chair at Western Australian Planning Commission and a director of the state’s land agency DevelopmentWA. At DevelopmentWA, Ms Bennett chairs the Central Perth, Midland and Scarborough land redevelopment committees. She was a member of the Joondalup Design Reference Panel and had been a town planner at other local governments, including the City of Mandurah and Town of Claremont.
Former Australian Football League chief executive Gillon McLachlan would become managing director and CEO of Perth-based gambling company Tabcorp from August 5. Mr McLachlan was AFL chief for eight years, resigning in 2022. Between 2003 and 2014, he worked as the league's general manager of commercial operations, chief operating officer and deputy CEO.
Rising gold producer Red 5 has finalised changes to its board and management team, following successful merger with Silver Lake Resources in early June. Included in the appointments was Silver Lake managing director and chief executive Luke Tonkin’s transition to the same roles at Red 5 and former Silver Lake chief financial officer Struan Richards’s appointment as CFO. Others to join the new combined entity include David Berg, Len Eldridge and Phillip Stevenson. Mr Richards will take over CFO duties from David Coyne, who also worked as Red 5’s joint company secretary (a role now undertaken by Mr Berg). Joining Mr Tonkin on Red 5’s new board are fellow Silver Lake representatives Rebecca Prain, Kelvin Flynn and David Quinlivan.
Green Technology Metals has announced Cameron Henry’s transition to the role of managing director. Mr Henry joined the Green Technology board in mid-2021, while continuing to work as Primero Group managing director. After more than 11 years with the engineering firm, Mr Henry has accepted the position as Green Technology Metals managing director.
