Sarah Hooper
Sarah Hooper was director of the WA state office of the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade from June 2020 to October 2021. She led the Department's engagement with its diverse stakeholders in Western Australia, including government, business, academia and the community sector.

Ms Hooper has served overseas with the Department in New Delhi, India, and in Jakarta, Indonesia, and was an exchange officer in the Bruneian Ministry of Foreign Affairs. She worked in the USA for a think tank, the Chicago Council on Global Affairs, as part of the leadership team for the annual Chicago Forum on Global Cities (2017-18). In Canberra, Ms Hooper has worked in the Office of National Assessments and the Department of Prime Minister and Cabinet as well as the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade with a focus on Australia's regional relationships, including Indonesia, Timor Leste and Solomon Islands. She led the Department's Graduate Training Program and oversaw the reintroduction of international participation in the program in 2007. In Western Australia, Sarah has held senior executive roles in the Chamber of Minerals and Energy and in State Government. Most recently, Ms Hooper has worked on reform and change management issues as the Executive Director of the Office of the Commissioner at the Mental Health Commission and in the Department of the Premier and Cabinet.
