Len Bleasel had a long career in the energy industry before retiring from management in 2001. He started his career with AGL in 1958 and worked in a a variety of roles, culminating in the position of managing director and chief executive from 1990 to 2001. Mr Bleasel is chair of the Taronga Conservation Society Australia and the Advisory Council for CIMB Securities International (Australia). He was non-executive director of QBE Insurance Group, St Georges Bank and Gas Valpo (Chile), and chair of Foodland Associated, ABN AMRO Australia Holdings, Solaris Power, the Australian Gas Association, Natural Gas Corporation Holdings (New Zealand), Elgas, Auscom Holdings, Industrial Pipe Systems and East Australian Pipelines. Mr Bleasel was awarded an AM in the General Division of the Order of Australia for services to the Australian gas and energy industries and the community.
