Dr Karen Murcia uses research and development strategies that engage participants with the process of designing, implementing and evaluating new strategies, which improve methods and the achievement of outcomes. She is experienced in the development and facilitation of a range of adult education and professional development programs. These have included evaluation research methods, ethics, cultural diversity awareness, women in leadership, action learning and interactive learning technologies. Dr Murcia is recognised internationally as a leader in the field of scientific literacy education for citizenship and sustainability. She worked extensively in research and evaluation partnerships with industry and community groups both nationally and internationally. Dr Murcia was chair of the Faculty Ethics Committee and director of a Research Centre at a leading Australian University. She is currently on the editorial board of three significant research journals and is a board member of an independent Western Australian School and of Child Australia, a not-for-profit organisation.
