Katharine Susannah Prichard was the first Australian novelist to gain international recognition, with her novel The Pioneers earning her the Hodder and Stoughton All Empire Literature Prize for Australasia.
Ms Prichard lived most of her life in the Perth hills region of WA, with her Greenmount home being dubbed 'Katharine's Place' by her friends, where she lived from the 1920s until her death in 1969.
The Katharine Susannah Prichard Foundation was founded in 1985 to preserve her home in Greenmount and to house the KSP Writer's Centre, a writing retreat offering residency programs and creative writing workshops to aspiring writers.
