Empire Energy's extended production testing of its Carpentaria-2H well in the Northern Territory's Beetaloo sub-basin continues to deliver strong gas flow with minimal decline. The ASX-listed oil and gas explorer and producer says the well is currently punching out a 13-day average of 2.6 million standard cubic feet of gas per day.

Empire Energy's ongoing testing at its Carpentaria-2H gas well in the Northern Territory has delivered strong initial flow rates. It has recorded a sustained output of 2.6 million standard cubic feet over the program's first 91 hours – a potential milestone in the revered Beetaloo sub-basin.

Empire Energy has ticked off a milestone in the Beetaloo sub-basin, hydraulically stimulating, or “fracking” a record 21 stages at its Carpentaria-2H gas well in the Northern Territory. The company is now set to tap the middle Velkerri B shale by drilling the horizontal section of the Carpentaria-2H well.

The result is up 45 per cent from the pre-shut in rate. The company says the results appear to underline the development potential of its Beetaloo Sub-basin acreage in the NT.

Empire Energy has massively boosted its Beetaloo Sub-basin oil and gas resources in the Northern Territory following a strategic takeover of Pangaea Ltd and EMG Northern Territory's acreage in the basin. Empire trebled its gas resource and increased its liquids resource by 3,000 per cent when it pounced on Pangaea and EMG's ground. The Beetaloo is believed to hold the largest undeveloped gas resource in Australia.
