THE Small Business Development Corporation has launched a pocket-sized directory of key business services and associations for small business owners.
Called the Business Buddy, the booklet provides contact details for organisations that can provide small business owners with information on issues from registering a business name to franchising and exporting.
SBDC managing director George Etrelezis said the Business Buddy would act as guide for small business owners to obtain further information.
“Easy access to information serves to free-up small business operators’ time so they can get on with the business of running their business,” he said.
“Maybe you want to find out about how to sell to government. Look up ‘selling’ in the Business Buddy and you will find out how to contact the Government Electronic Marketplace (GEM).”
Local government drive
THE State Government wants to increase female participation in local government and has launched an association to encourage and support women to seek opportunities for election to councils.
The Australian Local Government Women’s Association WA Branch aims to increase the numbers of women that govern our communities. Currently only five of the 144 local government CEO positions are held by women and female mayors and shire presidents make up only 20 per cent.
