Fletcher heads to Middletons
Duncan Fletcher, formerly of Mallesons, has joined Middletons’ national workplace relations and safety group as a partner. Mr Fletcher has spent more than a decade working in the areas of industrial, employment and occupational health and safety law including the Perth and Sydney offices of Freehills. He has advised organisations across a broad range of industries including BHP Billiton, Rio Tinto, the Commonwealth Bank and Qantas.
Willis, Entwistle join Sihayo
The board of Sihayo Gold, formerly trading as Oropa, has appointed current executive director, Paul Willis, as chief executive while Greg Entwistle has been named chief operating officer. Mr Willis has close to 20 years experience in financial markets and is the former non-executive chairman of Moly Mines. Meantime Mr Entwistle has more than 30 years mining industry experience, including as mine manager at Newcrest’s Gosowong underground gold mine. Current CEO, Tony Martin, will remain with the company in a senior consulting role focused on exploration strategies and development.
New role for Waldock
Public Transport Authority chief executive Reece Waldock (pictured) will take on the newly created position of director general – transport as part of the state government’s efforts to streamline transport operations. The position was created through the merger of director general of the Department of Transport, commissioner of Main Roads and chief executive of the PTA. The state government has no plans to merge the three departments. Current Main Roads commissioner Menno Henneveld will take the managing director role within that department.
Meurs in FMG move*
Senior WorleyParsons executive Peter Meurs has been appointed development director for Fortescue Metals Group. Mr Meurs will be working with director of operations Paul Hallam and rail general manager Peter Thomas to complete the Chichester Hub. The project involves linking the company's rail line from its first mine Cloudbreak to its second mine, Christmas Creek.

Amber Sheldon has joined strategic communications firm gtmedia as a senior adviser. Ms Sheldon previously worked at the Victoria Racing Club, where she was manager public relations and communications responsible for strategy and implementation for the VRC. Prior to that she worked with Melbourne consultancy Buxton Walker, which she joined after a successful career as a television and radio journalist with the Nine Network and 3AW.
Waldock to transport role*
Reece Waldock has been appointed to the position of director general, Department of Transport, to take effect for a term of five years. In addition, Mr Waldock will concurrently undertake the roles of Commissioner for Main Roads and chief executive officer of the Public Transport Authority. His previous appointments include the commissioner of railways and senior executive positions across the transport portfolio covering marine and port operations, transport policy and transport safety.
Cosgrove joins Stott + Hoare*
Stott + Hoare has appointed John Cosgrove as business development manager. Mr Cosgrove has more than 10 years' experience including working for major vendors such as HP, Ericsson and more recently with APC in Canberra. Mr Cosgrove has strong product knowledge and experience managing large projects for both large corporate and government clients across Asia Pacific.
Fleming Stonehenge COO
Simon Fleming has been appointed as chief operating officer and an executive director of Stonehenge. Mr Fleming is a geologist with a broad range of minerals exploration experience including, most recently, five years in the uranium sector. He has more than 30 years' experience having previously held senior technical and management positions with Reynolds Australia Metals, Sons of Gwalia, China Metals, Energy and Minerals Australia, Paladin Energy and Summit Resources.

WA Beef Council to drive cattle industry forward
Leaders from across the West Australian beef sector have been appointed to two new industry groups. The council, independently chaired by experienced beef producer Tony Hiscock include appointees such as Peter Trefort (Hillside Meats); Steve Meerwald (Wellard Rural Exports); Mike Jackson (Harvey Beef); Mark Panizza (Dardanup Butchering Company); John Mitchell (Mitchells Livestock Transport); Eric Broad (WA Livestock Salesmen's Association); and Ivan Rogers (WA Lot Feeders Association).
