Porter land sells to Castlewood

CASTLEWOOD Holdings has emerged as the purchaser of part of the land once owned by former metal fabrication and transport industry supplier Howard Porter.

Howard Porter owned two adjacent lots in O’Connor – one of around 1,100 square metres and another of 5,231 square metres. Department of Land Administration records show Castlewood has bought the larger portion.

Australian Securities and Investments Corporation records show former Australian Wool Processors director Baden Bant to be the sole director of Castlewood Holdings.

Concorde Realty’s Jeff Sinton said the smaller lot, which contains older buildings, is currently being leased and used for furniture storage.

However, he was uncertain about plans for Castlewood’s portion.

Mr Sinton met with prospective buyers for the larger land parcel who flew in from Brisbane this week.

“If the sale does not go through the buildings on the site will probably be let,” he said.

Last week Business News revealed CBH subsidiary Bulkwest had purchased the Howard Porter brand and operations for an undisclosed sum.

Bulkwest intends to move the business to Bulkwest Engineering’s Spearwood premises.

Howard Porter was formed in 1936 and largely focused on commercial vehicle construction and materials-handling equipment manufacture.

Its closure was forced by its owner, listed in ASIC records as Singaporean company Lindeteves-Jacoberg Limited.
