WA Business News has won another award in competition against its business publishing peers in the US.
The award was a silver in the best front page category for the 'Sharpening focus' feature, pictured above, imagery for which was created by designer Rod Tinniswood.
The awards, announced last weekend, are held annually by the Alliance of Area Business Publications, which represents more than 70 publications.
WA Business News focuses on the AABP awards program because it provides the most meaningful peer-group evaluation available.
The 'Sharpening focus' feature was our annual review of Western Australia's largest employers, and analysed how the business sector was dealing with the sharp slowdown after the onset of the global financial crisis.
Commenting on the winning front cover, the judging panel said: "A strong illustration and some well-chosen words for the display type are the strengths of this design. A collection of sharpened pencils bearing the logos of some of Western Australia's key businesses wonderfully illustrate a story on how those businesses are redrawing their strategies after a tough fiscal year."
The gold award in the best front-page category was won by Crain's Cleveland Business, while the bronze went to Charleston Regional Business Journal.
The latest win brings to seven the number of AABP awards picked up by WA Business News since its first winning entry in 2003.
Biggest Employers is one of several research-driven features that present in-depth information and analysis to our readers. Other research-driven features analyse topics such as major resources projects, major infrastructure projects, biggest exporters, chief executive remuneration, the top business brands and shareholder returns.
Another example is this week's end-of-financial-year corporate finance feature, which looks at trends in mergers & acquisitions, capital raisings and stock market floats.
Like all of our features, it has a strict WA focus.
