A $50 million development of Coventry Square in Morley that will transform the warehouse into a market space including 200 specialty stores and a microbrewery, will open for public comment tomorrow.
The public will have six weeks to comment on a scheme amendment, the first step in allowing the Coventry Square development to proceed.
A City of Bayswater spokesperson told WA Business News that once the amendment is approved, the developer, Strzelecki Group, can lodge a development application to the council.
The Strzelecki Group, which is also behind the North Port Quay development, is proposing to convert the old warehouse on Walter Road West, near Centro Galleria, into more than 200 specialty stores that will offer fresh produce, fashion, local arts and crafts, restaurants and cafes.
"At a time when the economy is slowing down, Coventry Square will be a real shot in the arm for Morley and the City of Bayswater by creating hundreds of new small businesses and jobs for about 1,000 people," Strzelecki principal Greg Poland said.
He added the group hopes to have the grand opening in April next year and long term leases are still available for small businesses.
